How does the renewal process work?
All domains registered by you are eligible to be automatically renewed for an additional one year term on their expiration date. If you opt to participate in the auto-renewal process, the applicable registration fees for any renewal will be deducted from your Registration Fund on the expiration date unless your Registration Fund does not have sufficient funds to pay the applicable registration fees, in which case the applicable domain name may not be renewed until sufficient funds have been deposited.
What is the fee for renewing a domain?
The fee for an additional year is equivalent to the SRSplusŪ fee for a new registration for that particular TLD. Please see the SRSplus Pricing section to view the pricing structure for all TLDs.
How do I allow customers to "opt-out" of the Auto-Renewal Service?
We have set the default for Auto Renew to "Off" for both our API and Partner Manager Partners. If you are using the API tool, you just need to allow for that functionality on your site. However, please keep in mind that by turning Auto Renew "Off", your customers risk having their names deactivated and then ultimately deleted if they do not take the appropriate steps to renew domains.
What happens to a domain name on the expiration date if my customer or I do not renew the domain name, and Auto Renew is turned "Off"?
If the domain name has not been renewed by the expiration date, the domain name registration will move to "Lock" status (a status where the domain cannot be edited) for six (6) days and then "Deactivation" status (a status where the domain will be dropped from the zone file and the Web site will no longer resolve) until the domains are deleted on the 36th day.
Can I still renew a domain name on behalf of my customer if the Auto Renewal service is turned "Off"?
Yes, you can initiate a renewal for your customer's domain, through Partner Manager or the API within 36 days after the expiration date of the domain. If the renewal is not made within the 36 days, then the domain name registration will be deleted.
What happens if I have insufficient funds in my registration fund at the time of renewal if I have the Auto Renew service turned "On"?
Should you have insufficient monies in your Registration Fund to process an Auto-Renewal, expiring domains will not be Auto-Renewed. You will immediately be contacted via e-mail if an Auto-Renewal fails due to insufficient funds. If the domain is past expiration, it may be deactivated. Once you deposit additional monies into your Registration Fund, we will process all Auto-Renewals that previously failed due to insufficient funds in the order of expiration (i.e., Auto-Renewals for domains that expired the earliest will be processed first). We strongly encourage you to be diligent in maintaining sufficient amounts in your Registration Fund to prevent any interruption in your Auto-Renewal process.
How will I know which domains are coming due for renewal?
The SRSplus Partner Manager offers the flexibility to search domain expirations either by entering in various date ranges or specific domain names.
How far in advance do I need to give my customers notice of renewal?
You should notify your customers in writing at least 30-days prior to the expiration of an SRSplus domain registration.
What does it mean to have a domain in "Lock" or "Deactivation" status?
Being "Locked" means that the record for a given domain name is frozen and cannot be altered. This happens on the expiration date of any domain name that has not been renewed and lasts for six (6) days. After the six-day "Lock," the domain name moves to "Deactivation" status, when it will be dropped from the zone file and thus can no longer be viewed on the Internet. Per the SRSplus Renewal Policies, thirty-six days after the expiration date, the domain name is deleted.
Can I cancel a renewal prior to the expiration date?
By registering or renewing a domain name, you are accepting responsibility for full payment of the registration charges. Transactions may not be canceled, so please be careful when renewing domain names.
Can I renew all the domains that are returned in my renewal query in one transaction?
You may submit up to 50 renewals per transaction. Because the various ccTLD registries have different rules for renewals, we have limited each bulk renewal transaction to increase efficiency. At the top of the query results we have provided an option to check the domain names listed in the page for renewal. Once you have selected up to 50 domain names that you wish to renew, click the 'Renew' button to continue. Now you may select the terms for your domain names. At the top of this list of domain names is a select menu which will enable you to change the terms for all the domain names listed. Please note that you can only renew multiple domain names in one transaction if they are listed in the same page (i.e., in blocks of 50) of the query return.
