How does the Renewal process work?
All domains registered by you are eligible to be automatically renewed for an additional one year term on their expiration date. If you opt to participate in the auto-renewal process, the applicable registration fees for any renewal will be deducted from your Registration Fund on the expiration date unless your Registration Fund does not have sufficient funds to pay the applicable registration fees, in which case the applicable domain name may not be renewed until sufficient funds have been deposited.
What is the fee for renewing a domain?
The fee for an additional year is equivalent to the fee for a new registration for that particular TLD. Please see the SRSplus Pricing section to view the pricing structure for all TLDs. From time to time, SRSplus may offer promotions for renewals. Please check with the Promotion section of the SRSplus site for further info on promotions.
How do I allow customers to "opt-out" of the Auto-Renewal Process?
You can offer your customers the choice to not participate in the Auto-Renewal Process. You just need to allow for that functionality on your site. We have set "opt-out" as the default functionality for renewals for both our API and FastTrack Partners. However, please keep in mind that by opting-out of the Auto-Renewal process, your customers risk having their names locked, deactivated and then ultimately cancelled if they do not take the appropriate steps to renew domains.
What happens on the expiration date of my customer's domain name if they "Opt-out" of the Auto-Renewal Process?
On the expiration date, the domain name registration will move to "Lock" status (a status where the domain cannot be edited or transferred) for five (5) days and then "Deactivation" status (a status where the domain will be dropped from the zone file and no longer be able to be viewed on the Internet) until the domains are cancelled on the 30th day.
Can I still renew a domain name on behalf of my customer if they have "opted-out" of the Auto-Renewal Process?
Yes, you can initiate a Renewal for your customer's domain, via FastTrack or the API within 30 days after the expiration date of the domain. If the renewal is not made within the 30 days, then the domain name registration will be cancelled.
What happens if I have insufficient funds in my registration fund at the time of Auto-Renewal if I have "opted-in" to the Auto-Renewal process?
Should you have insufficient monies in your Registration Fund to process an Auto-Renewal, expiring domains will not be Auto-Renewed. They will be placed immediately into locked status and cancelled after 30 days. You will immediately be contacted via e-mail if an Auto-Renewal fails due to insufficient funds. Once you deposit additional monies into your Registration Fund, we will process all Auto-Renewals that previously failed due to insufficient funds in the order of expiration (i.e., Auto-Renewals for domains that expired the earliest will be processed first). We strongly encourage you to be diligent in maintaining sufficient amounts in your Registration Fund to prevent any interruption in your Auto-Renewal process.
How will I know which domains are coming due for renewal?
The SRSplus Partner Manager offers the flexibility to search domain expirations either by entering in various date ranges or specific domain names.
How far in advance do I need to give my customers notice of renewal?
You are required to notify your customers in writing at least 30-days prior to the expiration of an SRSplus domain registration.
What does it mean to have a domain in "Lock" or "Deactivation" status?
Being "Locked" means that the record for a given domain name is frozen and cannot be altered. This happens on the expiration date of any unrenewed domain name and lasts for five (5) days. After the five-day "Lock," the domain name moves to "Deactivation" status, when it will be dropped from the zone file and thus can no longer be viewed on the Internet. Per the SRSplus Renewal Policies, thirty days after the expiration date, the domain name is cancelled.
Can I cancel a renewal prior to the expiration date?
By registering or renewing a domain name, you are accepting responsibility for full payment of the registration charges. Transactions may not be canceled, so please be careful when renewing domain names.
Can I renew all the domains that are returned in a 'My Renewals' query
in one transaction?
You may submit up to 50 renewals per transaction. Because the various
ccTLD registries have different rules for renewals, we have limited each
bulk renewal transaction to increase efficiency.
At the top of the query results we have provided an option to check the domain names listed in the page for renewal. Once you have selected up to 50 domain names that you wish to renew, click the 'Renew' button to continue. Now you may select the terms for your domain names. At the top of this list of domain names is a select menu which will enable you to change the terms for all the domain names listed.
Please note that you can only renew multiple domain names in one
transaction if they are listed in the same page (i.e., in blocks of 50)
of the query return.
